IDblog ... an information design weblog

UX-related associations

Sean's comment (on Monday...can't link to the entry itself) about the high cost of entry to AIGA got me to 1) comment and then 2) update the following list, which was originally posted to the old IDblog a year or so ago.

This new version adds in AIfIA and updates each listing with the association's student membership rate and policy.

Comments

The experience design SIG at AIGA no longer costs an additional $75. Members may still join the SIG, but pay only the base membership to do so (the brand design SIG has an additional fee). This became effective in or around June of 2002. Full disclosure: I'm a member of the board of AIGA DC and a founding member of our local experience design community of interest.

Thanks for the info! The ED community site still lists the fee though (see http://www.aiga.org/content.cfm?contentalias=how_involve ). I'll be happy to update my table once they change it on the site and/or post an announcement to their email list for confirmation.

The removal of the fee was announced in June of this year. I'll check on the site issue. That's strange!!

I have just made the correction on the site!

Thanks for the feedback; I've gone ahead and updated the table. Now let's see what you guys can do about reducing dues for part-time students :).
