Information visualization

In the range of things that can be considered information design, the field of information visualization is a very interesting area. It's kind of like info graphics (a la USA Today -- or Tufte) on steroids.

Anyways, Bob Jacobson (who edited ) forwarded this article from the Economist to the experiencedesign list:

Grokking the infoviz
Information visualisation is about to go mainstream. While it may not be the killer application some expect, infoviz is going to help users to manipulate data in wholly new ways.

If Google is God, then information visualization surely has the potential of being at least a minor deity.
