Ode to John Tukey

Peter brings us this link to Michael's Gallery of Data Visualization, which he dedicates to John W. Tukey.

Tukey is an important figure for information designers (particularly those who are interested in information graphics). In fact, Tufte credits Tukey as the inspiration for what later became his first book (The Visual Display of Quantitative Information).

Minard's graphic No big surprise, Michael lists Minard's depiction of Napoleon's campaign as " the best statistical graphic ever drawn" (Tufte says the same). I love this graphic, as I talked about back in October.
